There is nothing more powerful then writing something down and looking at it daily! When I was at my last hope to get a handle on losing weight, one thing that I found to be extremely powerful was writing down a list of reasons "why I needed to change". I took a piece of paper and had 2 columns. One side titled "What would happen if I stayed this size and/or got bigger" and the other side "What wonderful things would happen if I changed".
I got this technique from a book by Tony Robbins called Unleash the Giant Within.
To my surprise, it was the most liberating thing I have ever done when it came to expressing myself about things that were sitting in the back of my head. Reading my list caused me to put myself in the emotion of each side. For example, on the negative side of the list one of the things that I wrote if I stayed big then I would surely begin needing to be on medication for forever more and that I would have a miserable life. One of the things I wrote on the positive side was that I would become healthy enough to have children one day and that I would hopefully be around a long time to see my kids become adults.
When I wrote these things out I put myself in the moment and became overwhelmed with emotion which is what Tony Robbins wants you to do. To this day I still have that list.
Now that I have 2 small kids and back on another journey my list is somewhat of the same but I am adding things and reviewing it constantly.
